Magenta Robotics’ new GT5 concept appears to be having a slight identity crisis, blending the body of a quadruped with the efficiency of wheels and the utility of two arms. This “mobile manipulation platform” rolls smoothly across flat surfaces and brandishes a tray with the quiet dignity of a mechanical butler from the uncanny valley. We’re not sure whether we should be impressed by its multi-modal locomotion or simply ask it to fetch our slippers, but either way, the line for unemployed baristas just got a little longer.
